Strategic Cooperation Between the Egyptian Public Prosecution, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Environment, and Geocycle Egypt for the Safe Disposal of Seized Narcotics
Cairo, December 3, 2025: As part of the state's continued commitment to strengthening the sustainable management of hazardous waste and safeguarding public health and the environment, and in line with the directives of the Public Prosecutor of the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding the disposal of seized narcotics approved for destruction, and based on the decision of the Attorney General of Suez Public Prosecution, under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohamed El-Fouly, Head of Suez Public Prosecution, Geocycle Egypt, a member of Holcim Group, announced its cooperation with the Egyptian Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Environment to strengthen mechanisms for the final and safe disposal of seized narcotics in accordance with the highest international standards. In this context, Geocycle Egypt's facilities received 25 sealed consignments of seized narcotics referred by the Suez Public Prosecution, which were destroyed using safe and approved methods that ensure the highest levels of environmental and health protection, in the presence of officials from the Suez Public Prosecution, the Suez Security Directorate, and representatives of the Ministry of Environment.
This cooperation forms part of an integrated system aimed at strengthening environmental and public health security by ensuring the final disposal of seized narcotics and preventing their re-circulation, through the application of safe and efficient procedures for the disposal of hazardous waste. Geocycle Egypt oversaw the receipt and preparation of these materials at its facilities within the Holcim Egypt cement plant in Wadi Hajoul, Ain Sokhna, ensuring the highest levels of safety and security and reflecting the company's commitment to the highest standards of environmental and health operations nationwide.
The destruction and final disposal of these materials is carried out using co-processing technology in high-temperature kilns reaching 1,530°C, one of the most effective and safest methods for disposing of hazardous waste. This approach reflects the company's commitment to deploying advanced technology in waste management, as a genuine expression of the highest level of social responsibility toward a healthier environment for all citizens, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The incineration of the seized materials was witnessed by specialized teams from the Public Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Environment, who were present at the site to oversee the inspection, receipt, and documentation of all procedures, ensuring full transparency and strict compliance with approved protocols. Attendees commended the precision and high professionalism demonstrated by Geocycle Egypt in managing hazardous waste over nearly a decade of experience, noting that this close cooperation ensures every step of the safe disposal process is carefully studied in accordance with the highest safety and environmental standards.
